From 10th to 14th July, Active Week was held here in St. Patrick’s NS. Each day we made a conscious effort to be more active through a range of different activities. Each class completed a daily lap challenge where they ran laps of the AstroTurf for six minutes. The aim was to beat their own score each day. There were novelty break time activities such as beanbag throwing, limbo and basketball. On Monday, we completed a Skipathon where each class aimed to ‘climb’ Galtee Mór. Every class surpassed the height of Galtee Mór and had fun finding out which mountains around the world they managed to climb with their jumps. Every class learned the dance for ‘An Dreoilín’ which we performed as a whole school on the Friday. A yoga teacher joined us and taught each class some breathing exercises and yoga poses. Everyone participated in our annual ‘Glanworth’s Fittest Pupils’ event where the children completed a series of obstacles in small teams as fast as they could. The children also filled in booklets from the Irish Heart Foundation regarding physical activity and everyone received a participation certificate. Well done, everyone!
