St. Patrick's NS: Glanworth 🌞Well done to all the boys and girls who participated in our in-school chess tournament on Thursday, 7th December. It was fantastic to see the progress pupils have made and to see them applying various strategies and problem-solving skills. Two teams from the ‘Buds’ category (2nd-4th) and two teams from the ‘Masters’ category (5th & 6th) will represent the school at the Féile Fichille chess tournament, 31st January, Gaelscoil de hÍde.
What is a Féile Fichille chess tournament?
A Féile Fichille is a one-day, fun and friendly, meet-and-greet style chess tournament organised by Ficheall; the volunteer network of primary teachers in Ireland. The tournament is designed to be non-competitive – no medals, no prizes, no trophies, no rankings displayed or shared at the tournament. It is simply an opportunity for students to represent their school as part of a team (and wear their school jerseys/colours) and experience a chess tournament.
